AIG Execs Coerced Into Forfeiting Bonuses

CNBC reports that the AIG bonuses were returned under duress.

The network has received a copy of an email that was sent to the recipients of the bonuses. Here is what they have up:

“Please be aware that we have received assurances from Attorney General Cuomo that no names will be released by his office before he completes a security review which is expected to take at least a week. To the extent that we meet certain participation targets, it is not expected that the names would be released, at all.”

Basically, give back the money and we won’t release your name to the mob. Don’t give it back and place yourself and your family at risk. What choice would you have made?

An ugly way to wind up an ugly little chapter of this crisis.
